Education Programs
Education unlocks opportunity, dignity, and long-term resilience for children and communities. Zambia’s Free Education Policy has expanded access to schooling for many children who were previously excluded. Yet for learners in marginalized and hard-to-reach communities, access alone is not enough. Overcrowded classrooms, limited learning materials, inadequate sanitation facilities, and social risks such as early pregnancy continue to undermine retention, safety, and learning outcomes.
Primrose Community Health Organization (PriCHO) strives to strengthen inclusive, community-driven education and child protection systems that ensure vulnerable children not only enrolled in school, but remain, learn, and thrive. Our approach aligns with national development priorities and complements government efforts by focusing on the quality, safety, and equity of the learning environment.
PriCHO supports primary and secondary school learners through targeted investments that are aimed at improving learning conditions and restore dignity including infrastructure such as school desks, requisites namely books, uniforms, and essential learning materials, alongside WASH interventions that promote health and improve school attendance. These inputs directly contribute to reducing desk deficits, safer and more conducive school environments for marginalized learners, particularly girls.
Recognizing that education outcomes are shaped beyond the classroom, PriCHO integrates child rights and adolescent-focused interventions that address the drivers of school dropout. Through community engagement and protective support, we contribute to reducing early pregnancies and preventable dropouts, enabling more learners to complete their education.
By 2030, PriCHO aims to increase access to education for vulnerable learners, improve retention, and strengthen community ownership of child protection and education systems. Our future focus includes early childhood development and parenting initiatives that position caregivers as first teachers and protectors, laying strong foundations for lifelong learning.
Through community partnership and systems-focused action, PriCHO helps ensure that education becomes not just a policy promise but a pathway to lasting opportunity for every child.
