Our Story

From Humble Beginnings to Community-Led Transformation

Primrose Community Health Organization (formerly Pride Community Health Organization) is a non-governmental organization situated in Kafue district, Zambia. Emerging as a modest support group for individuals grappling with HIV in 2004, the organization's journey has been one of evolution and empowerment, culminating in its official recognition as a nonprofit entity in the fall of 2010.

This transformational evolution was underscored by its official registration, meticulously documented in adherence to the regulatory framework provided by the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, thus affirming its compliance with the robust guidelines laid out by the NGO Act of 2009.

The organization began to expand the scope of its community interventions in early 2011, from one (1) local community to a total of twelve (12) wards by the end of 2024, representing a total of 66 percent coverage, with an approximate population of 219,574 (Zambia Statistics Agency: Census, 2022).

Supported by 17+ Funders Since 2004

The organization has received funding from over seventeen (17) different funders since 2004, enabling us to expand our reach and deepen our impact across Kafue district.

Notable funders include: The Support to HIV/AIDS Response in Zambia (SHARe 1), Zambia National AIDS Network, Christian Children's Fund, Positive Action for Children's Fund, Paediatric Adolescent Treatment Africa, ELMA Masana wa Africa, Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation, Canadian Fund for Local Initiative, SRHR Africa Trust, Otto Mille Valdese Italy, Aidsfonds The Netherlands, The Egmont Trust, African Collaborative, Segal Family Foundation, Mortensen Family Foundation,  and Communication Support for Health.
